The Post You've All Been Waiting For

I don't participate in blog awards although I think they are a nice way to tell bloggers how much they are appreciated.  It would be hard for me to select my favorite blogs to pass the awards on to.  There would be around 270 of you!!

Patti at Classic Movie Snippets graciously awarded me the Sweet Blogger award.  I decided to partially participate.  First let me tell you that Patti is a fine reviewer of old movies.  I thought I'd seen all the great ones but she has introduced me to many that were "new".  Patti awards stars and, thus far, has been "spot on" as they say somewhere or other!

Since I know many of you want to know a few things about me, I'm going to share seven things about myself that you probably don't know.  If you want to know more--my whole life story perhaps--just send a check or money order for $9.99 and a stamped, self-addressed envelop!!

First of all, this is me.  My son took the photograph since Margaret Bourke-White had expired and Annie  Leibovitz refused.  I asked him to make me look ten years younger and fifty pounds lighter.  NO, he didn't!!

1.  I grew up in the Star City of the South.  Look it up.

2.  I spent four years lost in the Pentagon and got paid for them.

3.  I once flew to London (yes, England) for the weekend to attend a party.  I was single and foolish but had a great time!

4.  While in college, I accidentally upset a tossed salad into my lap at dinner.  Without missing a beat, I ate the salad out of my lap--red French dressing and all.

5.  I have no fear of driving anywhere.  I've even driven down Broadway and made a left onto 42nd St.--or was it 44th?  Yes, I'm talking about NYC.  The parking was not as easy as the driving.

6.  If I had to choose only one cuisine for the rest of my dining years it would be Thai.

7.  I met two of my blogging friends face to face last October and, contrary to warnings from family and friends, Ginny of Let Your Light Shine and Beverly of Lacoochee Kid were charming and fun to spend time getting to know.

  1. Love, love, love this post . . . thanks. Really fun.

Now I know what you look like (really cute), so when we have coffee, we won't have to carry a rose to recognise each other. :)

    Fondly,
    Glenda

  2. First of all, I don't generally participate in tags or awards either. My Fill My Cup blog is set up award-free, but that's because I had it custom-designed and I asked to have one of those award-free buttons made. I don't know how to do that myself, so that's why my movie blog doesn't have one. And since I got an awar and didn't want to ignore it, I decided to participate.

By the way, it may have been confusing. The award post is my second post down. It was given to me by someone named Monty (plus, Monty Clift is my top post right now). The award is actually The Sweet Blogger Award. I hope you found that post (2 down), so you can see what I wrote about you.

Anyhow, this post is hysterical. I was laughing at you eating the salad out of your lap. Too funny!! And the trip to London for a whirlwind weekend...what a hoot!!

I would love to go to NYC someday, but I think I'll use a taxi or the subway...no driving for me, thank you very much. You are much braver than I!!

I have loved meeting some blogging friends face to face, despite the fact that some of my family, like yours, thinks I am "insane to fraternize with people met on the internet."

I'm loving my day of Monty Clift movies. Such a gorgeous guy...pre-accident, that is.

    Blessings to you,
    Patti

  11. i have fears of driving just about anywhere, was in NYC at age 8 with my granddaddy. have never left the USA because i refuse to fly or float and there is no way to drive or ride a train YET
i never dropped salad in my lap, but i did flip my fork up in the air with a bite of lasagna on it in an Italian restaurant in a mall, had on a white jumpe suit (remember those) and it went right down between my legs staining as it went. i had to walk out through the mall to get to the car
I know Bev Whitcomb and love Ginny like a sister, even though we have not met.

  12. I guess you know I know your blog friend Bev. And I love this post! It reminds me of the game two truths one false or whatever it's called. You really get to know interesting things that way! I've also driven in NYC but not sure I would today!

  16. Bonnie,
LOVE this post. Thank you for sharing. I felt I knew you before, but you've really added some very nice brush strokes to the picture! You have added tons of respect to my feeling about you re your driving in NYC. I would never even think about doing that. If you're ever near East TN I know another "blogger friend" you can meet.
    Best,
    Susan

  17. It is very nice to meet you and get to know a little about you. I have a good feeling that it is just a pinch that you have let us in! :D You do sound like someone that I would love to meet in person to chat and have a good time. Love that we got to see your beautiful face!

  18. Over the years we feel like we all know each other here in the blogging world. It's nice to know a little more about you:D

  19. Great portrait! Annie Liebowitz couldn't have done better...it shows your independent, feisty side I think. It's always fun to learn a few facts....and yours are all quite interesting...we wouldn't otherwise know about our fellow bloggers. One thing I do know is that I know I've enjoyed stopping by your blog over the past couple of years. I'm glad you're here.

  20. This was fun post, Bonnie! It is so nice to see your photo and hear all your facts.

You are very brave to drive in NYC, Bonnie -- even though I've lived here my entire life I avoid it at all costs! :)

  21. Well those were some fun facts! I do know where the Star City of the South is, though I don't get over that way very often. Your driving skills are impressive- I detest city driving and will only do it if I have to. :)

  22. What a hoot. I enjoy seeing what people look like. I have a better idea of who is talking to me.

  23. I knew about half of these facts. The salad story is hilarious, it is so much like your wry sense of humor!! I have this picture in my computer file! It is a GOOD one. And I have the ones of the three of us.

  33. Hello there, I almost missed this post. Its good to put a picture with the blog now. Do you ever try and picture what the blogger looks like? I pictured you with dark brown hair for some reason.

Great picture, I wonder what you were thinking in this photo?

  37. How in the world have I missed this for the past four days????? love. love. love this post! And, still can't believe I missed it until today! I love your photo, Bonnie. It is wonderful to *see* you finally. The lost years, well I'd like to hear more about that... but, I'm guessing lost translates to not-talking-about it either. Thai is one of my favs, too. That must have been a heck of a party in London. I'd have eaten that salad myself. lol! And, while I may have some tension driving some places... girl, I will saddle up and drive! LOL!

I have been blessed to meet a few of my blog friends also and I am so looking forward to that opportunity again in October. =)
