The Reveal: Hello Sweet Daphne

Have I provided enough suspense for the week?

Ginny, over at Let Your Light Shine, asked that I provide a "before" photo showing the before color.  This is the best I could do.  It's peach!!

It was a mistake that we've lived with for years.

It took a long time to decide what to do.  In the end, we decided that, no matter how light we went, the rooms would still be dark.  Therefore we decided to stay bold.

We finally found a green that would compliment the bold teal(ish) color in the dining room.
It's Benjamin Moore's Sweet Daphne.
I tried to link with the sample on the site but couldn't get it to work.

The photos turned out close but not quite doing the spring green color justice.

It does look great with the color in the dining room although neither color in the photo below is true.

We are happy with the choice for at least a few years.

It only took one coat making the $60 a gallon well worth the cost.

The photo above is way off.

The photo above and below is the closest to the true color.

Hope you all have a colorful and fun weekend!

  1. very beautiful, the paint color and your home. it is so hard to get color to show up right in a photo. also on the decorating shows on HGTV the colors are not what they are in real life,

  7. I love your new paint color! Painting is something that is on my list of things that need to be done, but it keeps slipping to the bottom. :)

  8. Okay, so I know photos don't reveal the true shade, but I must say, I DO love it. I am a huge lover of green (any shade), so it sounds and looks perfect to me.

Who knew that you could totally change your room for only $60. What a fabulously inexpensive way to redecorate.

    Blessings,
    Patti

  10. Whaoo, I do love that color you chose!!! Great choice for the style of the house. Paint, keeps going up in price, good to know one gal did it.

I do love your Frank Lloyd Weight style of house you have there and the stained glass lamp over the dinning room table. I also love the painting in the last picture, the row of houses... Did you paint that?

  11. It's wonderful!!!! I can hardly believe you covered that bold peach with only one coat! My living room is kinda this color, all but the walls and carpet. Is it like a pale seafoam? Thanks for the before and after, I didn't think the peach was so bad, but now I do, this is much softer and classier.

  19. Beautiful, Bonnie!! Oh, how I love your beautiful woodwork and all your birds!! I think you are so right. Our girls are just dark and they are bold. ;) Very nice choice. 20. Isn't it odd how difficult it is to get an accurate photo of a color? The light, the time of day and the flash of the camera must alter it in some way. I smiled at the photos and remember labeling one I took just like you did: THIS is the closest color.
Anyway, I like your choice...nice to have it done, be pleased with your choice and everything is new and fresh!

  29. Not only did you manage to make an excellent choice...you also managed to portray your space very well through your photos.
The neutral palette is very elegant as well as the stunning woodwork against it.

Well Bonnie...between you, the painter and Ms. Daphne...I'll soon be out of a job!

Have a great week and thanks for sharing such a personal side to your daily living ;o)

    Ciao for now,
