Library Progress Update

Our library construction is right on schedule.

This grainy photograph (taken through a car window in need of cleaning, shows the walls up, the windows in and, unseen, the inside installations nearly complete and dry wall being installed.

I have been fortunate to be the board member on the interior design committee.  For many months, we've had long meetings on choosing lighting, carpeting, wall colors, flooring and furniture for the building.

The colors and fabrics for the first floor adult areas and the third floor offices and board room.

The vibrant colors for the children's area on the left and the teen area on the right.

It's a long-time goal moving toward completion!!

  1. makes me happy, i am number one fan of libraries... looks good from here

  2. Wow, it sure looks like it is coming along. It seemed like ours took FOREVER to build. I would think it would be a blast picking out all the carpet and goodies for the inside :)

  3. The library is going to be beautiful! Of course, any building full of books is beautiful! Carla

  4. FINALLY an update and a peek at the fabrics!! I bet you had a lot to do with the beautiful fabric choices, too! They are lucky to have you! Our library has been renovating, too! But here's their nasty secret, that is a secret no more since it was in the paper. During the restoration, they stored as many books as they could in the bathrooms, ICK!

  5. So glad to see the progress and to know you're wearing red.

    Hugs from me and DQ!

  6. How excitng and fun for you! Being so close and personal.
    Libraries are so fun!!

  7. How wonderful! I love all the colors and textures and look forward to seeing it appear!

  8. It would be fun and very challenging to be involved in a project like this. Getting a new library is big important news in any community.

  9. What a wonderful project to be involved in! Libraries add so much to our communities, and I feel sad for people who don't live near a good one.

My daughter works in the children's department of our local library, so, like you, she enjoys that feeling of being part of something which will benefit so many.

    Wishing you a lovely weekend,

  10. You must be excited to see this progress. I'm sure the relatively mild winter has helped construction go so quickly. How lovely it will all be!

  11. I can't get over the progress that's been made on the library. Has the committee planned a party for the end of the construction phase? Bob is finally feeling more comfortable. The only current threat to his health now is me. I just may kill him :-). Have a wonderful weekend. Blessings...Mary

  12. Wahoo, how awesome is that to see your hard work coming along and now to be able to help decorate it. LOVE the colors and the vibrant colors for the kids.

    Happy dance for you.

I always enjoy hearing from you, my blogging friends.
