Tomatoes!

My favorite farmer had tomatoes for me today.  Three of them have found their way into

this lovely salad with romaine lettuce, spring onions, feta cheese and a splash of balsamic vinegar.  The promise of more to come makes me want to compose an ode to the tomato and the farmers who grow them.  I'm not a poet, though, and I know it.

Have a delicious weekend!

  1. looks great. we had our salads last week minus the feta cheese because I put it in the meat drawer and not in the place i keep it and forgot it was there until all the lettuce was gone. we will eat it this week, i put the feta in the right place. I THINK I DID

  2. Nothing is any better than home grown tomatoes. I love them. When I was a child, I would go to the garden pick a tomato wipe it off on my britches and eat it.

  9. There is nothing like a summer tomato full of flavor, right off the vine. Still waiting for ours to ripen. Yum!

  10. Lucky you! I have some green cherry tomatoes on my plants but it will be a long while before I pick a big, juicy, red tomato. Not wanting to wish summer away but it will taste wonderful :) Your salad looks perfect for a garden tomato.

  12. Tomatoes are one of my favorite foods of summer. I have been away from home and miss the farmer's market terribly. I am hoping to visit a local one here this Wednesday. I am anxious to see what I will fine. Tomatoes...keeping my fingers crossed.
